BOCA RATON, FL (November 29, 2010) – Florida Atlantic University will host the following events:
FAU to Commemorate 2010 World AIDS Day with March and
Program
The march will take place on Wednesday, December 1, at noon beginning at the Williams Administration Building, 777 Glades Road, Boca Raton campus. A program will follow at 1 p.m. at the Live Oak Pavilion, FAU Student Union. For more information, call 561-297-1135.
The Florida Atlantic University AIDS committee will
commemorate 2010 World AIDS Day with an AIDS awareness march,
followed by a program that will showcase student award winners of
the AIDS committee’s annual student literary and visual art
competitions that promote AIDS awareness. Representatives
from The RCP Movement@FAU, a university student group that raises
HIV/AIDS awareness, will speak about its message of respecting
yourself, checking yourself and protecting yourself from
HIV. Waiting with Hope founders Celeste Hernandez-Barnes
and Iain Barnes will share the story of their personal
experiences with this disease, as well as talk about the creation
of their non-profit HIV family development organization. Hugo
Rocchia, health services director for COMPASS, the Gay and
Lesbian Community Center of Palm Beach County, will round out the
program.
