BOCA RATON, FL (November 1, 2010) – Florida Atlantic University will host the following events:
FAU’s University Galleries Presents the Exhibition
Raymond Pettibon: The Punk Years
This free exhibition will be open to the public from
Saturday, November 13 through Saturday, January
22; Hours are Tuesdays through Fridays from 1 to 4
p.m. and Saturdays from 1 to 5 p.m. in the
Schmidt Gallery on FAU’s Boca Raton campus, 777

The Raymond Pettibon Exhibition presents early graphic
works from the California punk era. More than 200 pieces are
part of the exhibit, including posters, gig fliers, zines,
album covers, T-shirts, CDs and videos.
FAU to Promote Tolerance at Human Rights Walk
The free event will take place on
Tuesday, November 16, from 4:30 to 6 p.m.
beginning at
FAU’s Student Union building and ending at the
Live Oak Pavilion, 777 Glades Road, Boca Raton

The Human Rights Walk is geared toward raising awareness
of universal human rights and to promote tolerance.
Participants will gather for speeches, a video and music on the
United Nations’ Universal Declaration of Human Rights and
the effects of intolerance. The Human Rights Walk
is sponsored by FAU’s Center for Holocaust and Human
Rights Education; Be Aware, Share and Act for Peace;
International Student and Scholar Services; and Youth for Human
Rights International. The event coincides with the
U.N.’s International Year of the Youth and International
Education Week. Speakers and performers include Dr. Mary
Shuttleworth, founder of Youth for Human Rights International;
Josef Palermo, co-founder of FAU’s Amnesty Group and a
social activist in Washington D.C.; Dustin McGahee, president
of the Florida Chapter of Youth for Human Rights International;
and Tampa Bay singer/songwriter Hana-li.
FAU’s Department of English Presents the Literary
Authors Series with Poet Brian Spears
This event will take place on
Wednesday, November 17, at 7 p.m. in the
Majestic Palm Room of FAU’s Student Union, Boca
Raton campus, 777 Glades Road. For more information,

Brian Spears, an instructor of creative writing and
literature at FAU, will present his first collection of poems,
“A Witness in Exile,” which is forthcoming from
Louisiana Literature Press.
FAU’s Department of Music Presents a Concert with
the Commercial Music Ensemble and the World Music
Ensemble
This event will take place on
Friday, November 19, at 7:30 p.m. at the
Cultural Arts Center in Mizner Park, Boca
Raton. The performance is free with a $10 donation

FAU’s Commercial Music Ensemble will present
contemporary and rock music, and the World Music Ensemble will
present different types of music from around the world.
FAU’s Department of Music Presents a Piano
Gala
This event will take place on Saturday, November 20, at
7:30 p.m. in the
University Theatre on FAU’s Boca Raton campus,
777 Glades Road. Admission is free with a donation of

Band-O-Rama
This event will take place on
Sunday, November 21, at 3 p.m. in the
Carole and Barry Kaye Auditorium in FAU’s Student
