Caring Hearts Auxiliary Raises
More than $100,000 to Benefit FAU’s Louis and
Anne Green Memory and Wellness Center
BOCA RATON, FL (November 20, 2009)
–
The Caring Hearts Auxiliary of Florida Atlantic University’s
Louis and Anne Green Memory and Wellness Center, along with 300
walkers, raised more than $100,000 at the fourth annual Keep
Memories Alive “black tie” walk affair.
“Our walkers and sponsors continue to exceed our expectations
year after year,” said Karen Hoffheimer, Caring Hearts
president. Hoffheimer co-chaired the walk with board member
Deborah Lindstrom and auxiliary member Morgan Green.
“Thanks to our walkers and sponsors, the Caring Hearts
Auxiliary is able to provide financial support to Day Center
participants and caregiver support programs.”
The
Memory
and
Wellness
Center, located on FAU’s Boca Raton
campus, is part of FAU’s Christine E. Lynn College of Nursing
and averages 14,000 visits per year. The Center offers
a wide range of services and programs to individuals with mild to
moderate memory disorders, including Alzheimer’s disease and
related dementia. Visits begin with a comprehensive memory
evaluation. The evaluation results often help diagnose a
memory disorder and develop a treatment plan in cooperation with a
patient’s physicians.
The Day Center provides an active and secure place for families to
bring spouses or parents who are experiencing memory loss, and the
caregiver support programs have a positive impact on life at home.
“The hard work of our auxiliary - combined with the
generosity of our sponsors and walkers - enables the Center to
continue state-of-the art services to families living with memory
disorders,” said Denise Sparks, director of the Center.
“We are deeply appreciative and know that every dollar
counts.”
Bobby Campbell was the “Presenting” sponsor.
Additional generous sponsors included Platinum level sponsorship,
provided by Louis and Anne Green; and E.M. Lynn Foundation. Gold
level sponsorship was provided by the Boca Raton Resort & Club;
Boca Raton Magazine; Richard and Debra Gonzalez; Legal Sea Foods;
Susan and Mel Katz; and Elaine J. Wold. Silver level sponsorship
was provided by the Abner and Mildred Levine Family Foundation;
Lindstrom Air Conditioning, Inc; and William and Betty Scaggs and
family. Bronze level sponsorship was provided by Mike and Arlette
Baker; Boca Medical Supply; Boca Raton Community Hospital; Ed and
Sue Diener; Richard and Mary Fontana; Harbour’s Edge; James
and Karen Hoffheimer; Minette Hoffheimer and Theordore L. Schwartz;
The Phyllis & Robert E. Levinson Foundation; Carl and Debbie
Lindstrom; Norman Merollis; Gary and Kathleen Naughton; Stratford
