Public Invited to FAU’s Fall BFA Art Exhibition

BOCA RATON, FL (November 5, 2007) – The Fall 2007 graduating class of the department of visual arts and art history in the School of the Arts in the Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters at Florida Atlantic University will host an opening reception for their Bachelor of Fine Arts show in the Ritter Gallery on FAU’s Boca Raton campus on Thursday, November 29 from 7 to 10 p.m.   The show, featuring 31 graduating studio artists in a variety of media, including painting, photography, graphic design, ceramics, sculpture and printmaking, will take place from November 29 through December 14.   The reception and exhibition are free and open to the public.

“This is one of our largest graduating classes to earn a bachelor of fine arts degree in visual arts,” said Angela DiCosola, chair and professor of art at FAU.   “This exhibition is testimony to the many talented students here at FAU.   It is an exceptionally interesting and diverse collection of works with a variety of artistic media.”

The event celebrates the completion of undergraduate studies in a program which fosters individual growth and facilitates the creative investigation of the artist through the study of technique, history and a critical dialogue in studio art.

The BFA exhibition is sponsored by Regions Bank, the GEO Group of Boca Raton, Sandow Media of Boca Raton and Chartwells Caterers.   University Galleries programs are made possible in part through support from The State of Florida Department of State Division of Cultural Affairs, Florida Arts Council and the National Endowment for the Arts; Palm Beach County Cultural Council; R.A. Ritter Foundation; FAU Student Government through student activity fees; and individual friends of the University Galleries.

The University Galleries are open Tuesday through Friday, 1 to 4 p.m. and Saturdays, 1 to 5 p.m. The galleries are closed Sunday and Monday. Adult groups, public school field trips and university classes are welcome at alternative hours by appointment. Guided tours for groups are also available by appointment.
