FAU Hosts ‘Engineering Olympics,’ a High
School Engineering Competition
BOCA RATON, FL
(October 7, 2009) – Florida Atlantic
University’s American Society of Mechanical Engineers club is
hosting a high school “Engineering Olympics”
competition. The competition will be held on Friday, October
9 from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Live Oak Pavilion of the Student
Union, 777 Glades Road, FAU’s Boca Raton campus.
This annual event exposes high school students to the field of engineering and encourages them to start thinking about engineering as a career choice. Eighteen teams from six local high schools -- Jupiter High School, Boca Raton High School, FAU High School, South Broward High School, Stranahan High School and Plantation High School -- will be competing in the Engineering Olympics.
The teams will compete in a series of five to eight engineering challenges or events. Each team will receive a brown bag of supplies that they will use to complete each challenge. There will be a gold, silver and bronze medal awarded to each winning team in each event and a plaque to the top three schools overall.
For more information about the competition, contact KC Coyle at 561-297-3580.
