FAU’s Chamber Soloists Open a New Season
BOCA RATON (October 9, 2008) -- The department of music in the School of the Arts in Florida Atlantic University’s Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters will present a concert by the FAU Chamber Soloists on Saturday, October 18 at 3 p.m. in the Liberal Arts Auditorium on FAU’s Davie campus, 2912 College Avenue. Admission is free, though a donation is requested.
Leonid Treer is the artistic director and pianist for the Chamber Soloists. Performers in this concert include Ajit Damle, santoor; Sudhir Limaye, tabla; Shirish Patankar, sitar; and Medha Kulkarni, voice.
Leonid Treer, who was born in the former Soviet Union, has performed throughout the former USSR, Europe, Israel, the United States, Australia and the People’s Republic of China as a soloist chamber musician. Critics hail his “striking demonstration of the grand Russian piano manner,” citing his union of “sensitive, emotional interpretations with a formidable technique.”
Other concerts by the Chamber Soloists for the coming season on FAU’s Davie campus include “New World Visitors and Their Music, Part I” on Saturday, November 8 at 3 p.m. and “New World Visitors and Their Music, Part II” on Saturday, March 14 at 3 p.m..
