FAU Jupiter’s Lifelong Learning Society Holds Political Debate and Panel Discussion on the 2008 U.S. Presidential Election
JUPITER, FL (October 7, 2008) - Florida Atlantic University Jupiter’s Lifelong Learning Society will hold a political debate on Monday, October 20 at 7 p.m. and a panel discussion on Monday, October 27 at 11:30 a.m. at the John D. MacArthur Campus, 5353 Parkside Drive, Jupiter.
The political debate will feature Hilary Rosen, an on-air political commentator for MSNBC and CNN, and former staff member for several prominent democrats in Congress, and Sid Dinerstein, chairman of the Palm Beach County Republican Party. The moderator will be Frank Cerabino, a columnist of The Palm Beach Post. The purpose of the debate is to discuss issues relative to the presidential election such as the war in Iraq, the economy and national security. Rosen will portray the democrat’s view, while Dinerstein will reflect the republican perspective.
The panel discussion held on October 27 will feature Senator Bob Graham, former two-term governor of Florida; Ann Brown, consumer advocate and political activist appointed by President Clinton; Martin Cohen, former chief financial officer of The Washington Post; and Ambassador Roger F. Noriega, former assistant secretary of state for Western Hemisphere Affairs. The discussion will focus on how each of the presidential candidates would manage the challenges of issues such as healthcare, the economy, foreign policy, education and social security.
