FAU Christine E. Lynn College of Nursing to Host Genetics Testing and Education Fair
BOCA RATON, FL (October 4, 2007) – The Christine E. Lynn College of Nursing at Florida Atlantic University will host the Mathew Forbes Romer Foundation’s 5 th Anniversary Genetics Testing and Education Fair on Sunday, October 14, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission is free.
The mission of the Boca Raton-based Romer Foundation includes increasing awareness of fatal genetic brain diseases that afflict children. The foundation tests for diseases such as Tay-Sachs, Canavan disease, Familial Dysautonomia, Niemann-Pick disease, Gaucher’s disease and Cystic Fibrosis. These tests, which ordinarily cost $600, will be offered free of charge to the first 100 registrants. Test results are confidential between the participant and his or her physician, and will be available in ten business days.
