and FAU Present Caregiver Symposium
Second Annual Event to Focus on Alzheimer’s Research and Caregiving
BOCA RATON, FL (September 29, 2009)

The Alzheimer’s Association
and the Louis and Anne Green Memory and Wellness Center at
Florida Atlantic University present the Second Annual Early Stage
Symposium, “Looking to the Future: Where Research is Leading
Us,” at the FAU College of Nursing, Room 202, on Friday,
October 16, from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The symposium, which focuses on research, is for people in an early stage of Alzheimer’s disease or other memory disorder and their care partners. Speakers will include Michael Slifer, MD, from the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, who will present on “Alzheimer’s Disease Genetics;”Nikunj S. Patel, PhD, from Scripps Florida, who willpresent on “Drug Discovery and Development;” andDavid Loewenstein PhD, ABPP/CN, from the University of Miami, who will present on“Cognitive Training in Early Alzheimer’s Disease.”
“We are very privileged to have these distinguished researchers in our local area who will share with us the most recent advances in the diagnosis and treatment of Alzheimer’s disease and related disorders,” said Denise Sparks, PhD, director of FAU’s Memory and Wellness Center.
Admission is $10, which includes lunch, and is payable at the door. Seating is limited, so RSVP by Monday, October 12 to the Memory and Wellness Center at 561-297-0503.
