FAU’s Louis and Anne Green Memory and Wellness Center Recruiting Volunteers for Landmark Study
BOCA RATON, FL (September 10, 2007) - The Louis and Anne Green Memory and Wellness Center at Florida Atlantic University’s Christine E. Lynn College of Nursing is now recruiting volunteers for a landmark Alzheimer’s disease study. In the first study of its kind in the nation, researchers at the Green Memory and Wellness Center will assess if medication can preserve the driving ability of patients with mild Alzheimer’s. The study medication is currently approved by the FDA for the treatment of moderate to severe Alzheimer’s. The study was designed by Peter Holland, M.D., a psychiatrist at the Green Memory and Wellness Center, and Ruth Tappen, EdD, RN, FAAN, Christine E. Lynn Eminent Scholar in Nursing.
Eligible subjects for this one-year study will receive study medication, vision tests, driving tests, neurological exams and cognitive assessment at no cost. Reimbursement may be provided for time and travel.
