Susan G. Komen for the Cure National Education Tour to Make First Stop at FAU
BOCA RATON, FL (September 4, 2007) – Florida Atlantic University will host Komen on the Go™, a community education and outreach tour, on Monday, September 10 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the residence halls courtyard area, 777 Glades Road, Boca Raton. Komen on the Go™ is a nationwide initiative delivering life-saving breast health information to all generations of women.
The tour stop at FAU is the first of more than 150 stops Komen on the Go™ is making across the country to heighten awareness of breast health and breast cancer. Its purpose is to drive a deeper commitment from young women to commit to everyday health habits to reduce their risk for the disease.
The Komen on the Go™ pink trailer will convert into an interactive learning center, and will feature computer kiosks, breast cancer educational materials, breast self-examination guides, information on how to volunteer locally, registration cards for the Komen West Palm Beach Race for the Cure and tips on supporting loved ones facing breast cancer. The community also will be able to share a memory or pledge their personal support by signing an 8-foot “Graffiti Wall” that will remain at FAU after the completion of the event. .
