FAU Treasure Coast Hosts Groundbreaking Ceremony
PORT ST. LUCIE, FL (August 2, 2007) - Florida Atlantic University broke ground on an expansion project for its Treasure Coast campus, located in Pt. St. Lucie.
“The growth taking place on our Treasure Coast campus emulates the upward direction in which the region is rapidly heading,” said FAU President Frank T. Brogan. “As the educational needs of the Treasure Coast change with economic development, FAU is poised to respond with the best opportunities for area residents.”
The 31,000-square-foot facility will double the existing classroom space on campus and provide offices for new faculty and staff. The $10 million project is accompanied by $2.2 million for academic program growth in areas such as business, nursing, science and engineering.
“It is a very exciting time for Treasure Coast campus students, faculty and staff as we move into phase two of our master plan,” said Gerri McPherson, campus vice president. “This new, cutting edge facility will greatly enhance our current resources and services.”
The building is scheduled for completion in August 2008.
