Family Festival Offers Insight into
Research at Harbor Branch Oceanographic
PORT ST. LUCIE, FL (June 12, 2009) — The Ocean Discovery Center at Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute at FAU will host a family festival, “It’s All about the Dolphins!,” on Saturday, June 13 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The community is invited to enjoy a day of interactive educational and entertaining activities for all ages. Harbor Branch researchers will present their latest findings about dolphins and the environment in “meet and greet” sessions. Admission to the event is free.
Eco-boat tours of the Indian River Lagoon are being offered, enabling guests to get up-close views of bottlenose dolphins, manatees, birds and other wildlife. Boat tours are $10 per person.
Harbor Branch’s Ocean Discovery Center features exhibits that provide insights into ocean and coastal research, and promote a public understanding of the world’s oceans.
The family festival celebrates the 10th anniversary of Harbor Branch’s “Protect Wild Dolphins” Florida specialty license plate which has been supporting dolphin rescue and rehabilitation, education and research throughout Florida since 1999.
