FAU President Frank T. Brogan Appointed Vice President of the Sun Belt Conference’s Executive Committee
BOCA RATON, FL (June 4, 2007) - Florida Atlantic University President Frank T. Brogan recently was named vice president of the Sun Belt Conference’s Executive Committee. The Sun Belt Conference is a college athletic conference that has been affiliated with the NCAA’s Divison I since 1976.
“It is truly a privilege to serve as the vice president of the Sun Belt Conference Executive Committee,” said Brogan. “I look forward to working with the other members of the committee during what will undoubtedly be an exciting year in athletics.”
As part of the eight-person committee, which provides oversight for the Sun Belt Conference, Brogan’s shared responsibilities will include approving conference wide rules/legislation, the conference office budget, tournament championship sites, and other duties.
Because of its status as a member of the Division I-A football coalition, the Sun Belt Conference has a permanent seat on the NCAA’s 17-member Board of Directors. As a result, the conference has a crucial voice on some of the most pressing issues in college athletics and will always have a role in the implementation of any future NCAA legislation and guidelines.
Other members of the executive committee include Dr. Sidney McPhee, president of Middle Tennessee State University, who will enter his second consecutive two-year term as president of the Sun Belt Conference; Dr. Gary Ransdell, president of Western Kentucky University, as past president; Jack Hawkins, chancellor at Troy University, as at-large representative; Dr. Timothy Ryan, chancellor of New Orleans University, as treasurer; Peg Bradley-Doppes, University of Denver, as athletics director representative; Bill McKee, North Texas University, as faculty athletics representative, and Melanie Richardson, Arkansas State University, as senior woman administrators representative.
