FAU to Host Asian Pacific American
Culture Day

FAU will host a
celebration honoring “Asian-Pacific American Culture
Day.” The celebration will include Asian food tastings, the
Nirvana Student Club members who will perform traditional dances
from India, as well as a martial arts demonstration and Lion Dance
performance by Lee Koon Hung and Choy Lay Fut of the Kung Fu
Association. Geshe Konchog Kyab, resident teacher at the
Tubten Kunga Center for Wisdom Culture and the Study of Tibetan
Buddhism, will discuss the Buddhist celebration of Sakadawa, and
master storyteller Dr. Caren Neile, an instructor in FAU’s
department of communications in the Dorothy F. Schmidt College of
Arts and Letters, will tell exciting Asian stories. Countries
and islands represented include Cambodia, China, India, Japan,
Korea, Malaysia, the Philippine Islands, Thailand, Vietnam, Hawaii,
Guam, Samoa and the Pacific Islands.
