FAU Announces Student Winners of National Mathematics Competition
BOCA RATON, FL (May 9, 2007) - The Florida Atlantic University Mathematical Sciences Department, part of the Charles E. Schmidt College of Science, recently hosted the American Mathematics Competition which is sponsored by the Mathematical Association of America. Students from Boca Raton Community High School, Donna Klein Jewish Academy, FAU High and Spanish River Community High School participated in the competition. Two students from New York also participated.
One purpose of the mathematics competition is to help identify those few students with truly exceptional mathematics talent. The student winners in the FAU sponsored competition were Natania Widensky, Donna Klein Jewish Academy; Uttam Thakore, FAU High; Jesse Salomon, Spanish River High; and Daniel Locke, Boca Raton High. These students were recently recognized during Math Day on the FAU Boca Raton campus.
