“Focus the Nation: South Florida’s Energy Future” will feature “South Florida’s Energy, Economy and the Future,” a symposium discussion made up of a panel including James Murley, chair of the Florida Climate & Energy Commission and director of the FAU Center for Environmental and Urban Solutions; Dr. Jaap Vos, director of FAU’s School of Urban and Regional Planning; Dr. Leonard Berry, director of FAU’s Florida Center for Environmental Studies; Yalmaz Siddiqui, environmental director of Office Depot; Marc Craddock, account executive for energy solutions at Siemens; Jack Ristau, director of business development at Wheelabrator Technologies, Inc.; Joe Naroditsky, executive director of Faiths United for Sustainable Energy; and Alex Van Mecl, president of FAU’s Mission Green Student Association. The symposium will provide a venue for the panelists and the community to discuss the development of common strategies to reduce the local community’s ecological footprint, promote sustainability projects, learn about renewable energy projects in the local area, and explore green careers. A main hall networking showcase with university student groups, local “green” companies and businesses also will take place.
“Focus the Nation” is a nationwide event that aims to bring together 435 U.S. congressional districts throughout the country to advocate for profound change in policy and action for a clean and just energy future.
