Plans for Innovation Village Project Unveiled
VERO BEACH, FL (April 16, 2008) –
Florida Atlantic University President Frank T. Brogan and Head
Football Coach Howard Schnellenberger unveiled the plans for
Innovation Village at a reception hosted by Indian River National
Bank (IRNB) at the bank’s headquarters in Vero Beach.
The more than 250 FAU
alumni, parents and friends from the Treasure Coast in attendance
were welcomed by IRNB President Andy Beindorf and Vice
President/Director of Marketing Karl Steene.
Slated for a 2010 opening on FAU’s Boca Raton Campus,
Innovation Village, a multi-use complex, will offer unique
opportunities for living, learning, dining, shopping and building
tradition.
The centerpiece of the
complex will be an open-air, 30,000-seat football
stadium/entertainment center.
“This is a project that will make the fanfare, festivities
and traditions of Bowl Sub Division football come alive at
FAU,” said President Brogan.
“A top priority
at this university is to provide programs and places that will
heighten the traditional university experience for our students and
all members of the FAU community.|
The Owls football team won the 2007 SunBelt Conference
Championship.
With their victory at
the New Orleans Bowl, they became the youngest startup team to ever
play and win a bowl game, and they were the only team in Florida to
win a bowl game last year.
