FAU Counseling Center Hosts Workshop on Intimate Relationships

In this workshop, attendees will learn why couples therapy often fails. Terry Real will teach the three key principles of the Empowerment Therapy Model: the use of leverage, “clean-up”of core emotional issues, and The Relationship Grid. Topics discussed will include: how to take sides productively, how to help women be effectively assertive and constructive in their relationship, how to inspire men to open their hearts and learn the new language of emotion, and how to help clients “use the worst parts” of their partner as a springboard to health.
A senior faculty member of the Family Institute of Cambridge in Massachusetts and a clinical fellow of the Meadows Institute in Arizona, Real founded the Relational Life Institute in March 2002. Through his books, the Institute, and workshops around the country, Real helps women and men break through outdated notions in an effort to find true connection and satisfaction.
