FAU Seaside Shindig Raises Scholarship Funds and Honors ‘Wave Makers’
FORT LAUDERDALE, FL ( March 26, 2009 ) – Florida Atlantic University’s National Alumni Association will host the fourth annual “Seaside Shindig” on Saturday, March 28 from 5 to 9 p.m. at John U. Lloyd State Park. The Broward fundraiser is a catered beachside event celebrating a commitment to higher education while recognizing the “Wave Makers” who have shown exceptional dedication to the University and its Broward campuses.
This year’s honorees are State Farm Insurance as the corporate partner; the Fort Lauderdale Executive Association as the community partner; and Neale Poller ’66, as the Outstanding Alumni honoree. Additionally, the “Pearl of Broward” is a special award presented each year to an individual who has shown leadership, advocacy and support of FAU. This year, Dr. Jennifer O’Flannery Anderson ’05, will receive the prestigious award. P.J. Rossi Jewelers is the official “Pearl of Broward” designer and four-time sponsor of the event.
Honorary Chair Virginia “Ginny” Miller and event chair Kathy Molinet ’95, ’04 are pleased to host this event, which raises money to support student scholarships, as well as alumni initiatives at FAU.
The success of the event is due in large part to its many returning sponsors, including M. Austin and Christine Forman, James B. Pirtle Construction Company, Broward College, Pavarini Construction, Broward Health, Regent Bank, Holy Cross Hospital and Miller Construction. These individuals and companies are joined this year by Balfour Beatty and State Farm Insurance.
Tickets and sponsorship opportunities are still available, but sales are going fast. Known for its casual atmosphere and sumptuous menu, the event has been a sellout since its inception.
