FAU’s Charles E. Schmidt College of Science Announces Winners of its Fifth Annual Math Day
BOCA RATON, FL (March 18, 2009) – Florida Atlantic University’s department of mathematical sciences in the Charles E. Schmidt College of Science recently hosted its fifth annual Math Day. The day presented two challenging competitions and concluded with an awards ceremony hosted by FAU President Frank T. Brogan and Dr. Gary W. Perry, dean of the College.
More than 200 participants from Dade, Broward, Palm Beach, Martin and St. Lucie counties attended the event.
Francis Musella of American Heritage School won third place and a $300 cash prize. Scott Eisner of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School took second place and a cash prize of $500. Michael Greenberg of Nova High School won first place and a cash prize of $1,000.
In the team competition, Spanish River High School, lead by team sponsor Mary Fish, took third place with a cash prize of $300. West Boca High School, lead by team sponsor Stacy Jacobowitz, and Nova High School, lead by team sponsor Carrie Ann Waters, tied for first place with both schools receiving $500.
