Admission is free, but registration is required by visiting www. fau.edu/WomensStudies or calling 561-297-3865.
The keynote speaker for the event is Suzanna Rose, senior associate dean for the sciences at Florida International University. She will present a lecture entitled “Strategies for Women in Leadership: Warming the Chilly Climate.” Other speakers include Anne Boykin, dean of the Christine E. Lynn College of Nursing at FAU; Susan Reilly, director of the school of communication and multimedia studies at FAU; Ira Bogotch, professor in FAU’s department of educational leadership; and El pagnier Hudson, director of FAU’s department of human resources.
“This forum represents an attempt to foster a dialogue about
women in leadership,” said Josephine Beoku-Betts, director of
the Women’s Studies Center at FAU. “While substantial
progress has been made to level the playing field in promoting
gender equity in leadership roles, there is still need to develop
an infrastructure that is inclusive of diversity and ethical
decision making and which can accommodate talented women from
diverse backgrounds and philosophical perspectives to succeed as
leaders.”
The Forum is co-sponsored by the Women’s Studies Center, The
University Diversity Committee, the College of Education, FAU
Student Government Program Board, Women’s Studies Graduate
Student Association and the Department of Business Services.
