University Club of FAU Holds Annual Fundraiser
BOCA RATON, FL (March 13, 2008) – The University Club of the Florida Atlantic University Foundation Inc., held its annual fundraiser on Sunday, March 2 to benefit the FAU Libraries, as well as academic and scholarship programs.
This year’s event, Islands in the Sun, brought more than 100 people to the Boca West Country Club for brunch, a silent and live auction and dancing. Craig and Lisa Swill served as honorary advisors. A lively tropical décor transformed the function hall into an island paradise. A jazz combo comprised of students from FAU’s Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters provided background and dancing music. Graduate students Trent Blanton and Rebecca Simon, from the department of theatre and dance, performed a Broadway revue.
Guests had the opportunity to bid on a number of exciting auction gifts, including a full body scan donated by Dr. Fred Steinberg of University MRI, an exquisite collection of crystal and porcelain donated by Mary Woodhall, Bon Jovi concert tickets donated by Kathy Maroone and a sunset cruise for six donated by Jason Savino, owner of Potions in Motions.
This year’s committee was chaired by Regina Vetto and included Sarah Bialy, Alene Brewer, Claire Carney, Patsy Jones, Carol Friedland, Elfriede Lynch, Gay Garlid, Donna McCaffrey, Joanne High, Shirley Gerzon, Pat Pearcy, Jeanne Gifford, Juan Querubin, Barry Goldin, Jane Regan, Marlis Hadeed and Rana Vitha.
