Philip Shabecoff is a Massachusetts-based freelance writer and co-author of Poisoned Profits, a new book scheduled for publication this summer. For 32 years, he worked as a reporter for The New York Times and was founder and publisher of Greenwire, the environmental news daily. Shabecoff is also author of Earth Rising: American Environmentalism in the 21st Century, A New Name for Peace and A Fierce Green Fire. In 1990, he received the American Library Association’s James Madison Award for expanding the public’s right to know. After the lecture, books will be available for purchase, and the author will be present for book signing. Light refreshments will be served. This lecture is sponsored by the Scripps Howard Foundation and coordinated by FAU’s School of Communication & Multimedia Studies.
