FAU Calendar of Events for the Week of February 28, 2011
BOCA RATON, FL (February 28, 2011) – Florida Atlantic University will host the following events:
FAU’s Department of Theatre and Dance Presents the Florida Waterways Project
The event
takes place on
Saturday, March 5, at 4 p.m., at the
lake behind the Visual Arts building, 777 Glades Road,
Boca Raton campus. The event is free. For more

This statewide event celebrates Florida’s waterways.
Performers from FAU’s department of theatre and dance will
perform on a floating dance floor on the lake behind the Visual
Arts building, east of the University Theatre.

FAU’s Department of Visual Arts and Art History
Presents a Photography Exhibition by Members of the Boys and
Girls Clubs of Palm Beach County
The opening reception for the exhibition will be on Friday, March 11, from 6 to 9 p.m., and the exhibition will be open Saturday, March 12, from 1 to 5 p.m., and Tuesday, March 15, from 1 to 4 p.m. The exhibition is free and is in the Ritter Gallery on FAU’s Boca Raton campus, 777 Glades Road. Photographs in the exhibition are winners of a national Boys and Girls Club
competition.

FAU’s Department of Music Presents Klezmer East in
Concert
The concert will take place on
Sunday, March 13, at 3 p.m., in the
University Theatre, 777 Glades Road, Boca Raton
campus. Admission is free with a $10 donation

Klezmer East, which is directed by Paul Green, will perform
Klezmer songs for the Purim season during the first half of the
show. Vashti, or The Whole Megillah, by David Schiff, will be
performed in the second half by Paul Green, clarinet; Birgit
Fioravante, soprano; and Heather Coltman, piano.

FAU’s Department of Languages, Linguistics and
Comparative Literature Presents a French Film Festival
The
festival takes place on Wednesday nights, beginning
Wednesday, March 16 through Wednesday, April 13, from 6
to 9 p.m., in the
Performing Arts Building, room 101, 777 Glades Road,
Boca Raton campus. Admission is free. For more

All films are
in French with English subtitles and will be introduced by FAU
faculty. Films include: “Persepolis,”
“Welcome,” “Entrée Les Murs,”
“The Silence of Lorna,” and “Azur et
Asmar.”

FAU’s Center for Women, Gender and Sexuality
Studies Presents ‘Women, Business and Power’
The full day forum takes place on
Friday, March 18, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., in
the
College of Business Building, 777 Glades Road, Boca

Alex Sink, former CFO of the State of Florida and former
candidate for Florida governor, is the keynote speaker for the
forum, with other guest speakers from local businesses,
women’s organizations and government. Forum topics include
“Showcasing FAU Research: Women and Business;”
“Getting Money to Make Money: Accessing Capital to
Stimulate Your Business,” and “Breaking Barriers:
Successful Women in Business.” This event also is sponsored
by the Adams Center for Entrepreneurship and the
President’s Diversity Committee.
