FAU National Alumni Association
Hosts Eighth Annual Sweethearts Dinner
BOCA RATON, FL (February 24, 2010) – For the eighth
year, the FAU National Alumni Association (FAUNAA) hosted its FAU
Sweethearts Dinner. The special evening honors couples that met
while attending FAU. More than 30 alumni couples recently attended
the dinner at the Marleen & Harold Forkas Alumni Center at
FAU’s Boca Raton campus.
Pat Breman, assistant vice president of alumni relations, and
Marleen Forkas, naming benefactor of the Center, welcomed all the
“sweethearts” on behalf of the FAUNAA. Ben Dickinson
’04, FAUNAA board member, served as master of ceremonies for
the evening’s festivities.
Dr. Ken Steel ’69, FAUNAA board member, and his wife, alumna
Charlene Steel ’67, ’70, were one of the couples in
attendance. “We enjoy attending this event because it gives
us the opportunity to reminisce about our college days and
celebrate our relationship with FAU,” said Dr. Ken Steel.
“It also allows us to spend time with those university
friends we’ve made over the years, and to make new friends
with other FAU couples. There will always be a connection between
our relationship and Florida Atlantic University.”
The
couples dined and participated in a humorous rendition of
“The Newlywed Game.”
