Former U.S. Senator and Florida Governor Bob Graham will be the special guest panelist for a presentation and discussion on “Planning Politics & Policy in Florida: Merging Past and Future.” Moderated by Jim Murley, director for FAU’s Center for Urban and Environmental Solutions, the session will cover the lessons learned from the past half-century of planning and growth management in Florida, and how to use this knowledge to establish a stronger planning system that will ensure a sustainable future for the state. The lecture also will include panelists Richard G. RuBino and Earl M. Starnes. RuBino, a professor emeritus of urban and regional planning at Florida State University, and Starnes, a professor emeritus of urban and regional planning at the University of Florida, co-authored the book Lessons Learned: The History of Planning in Florida in 2008.
