FAU’s Public Ethics Academy Hosts ‘Public Corruption and the Need for Reform’ Seminar

Florida Atlantic University’s School of Public Administration
in the College of Architecture, Urban and Public Affairs will host
its first Public Ethics Academy seminar on Wednesday, February 4
from noon to 2
p.m. at the Higher
Education Complex, 111 E. Las Olas Blvd, Room 1110, Fort Lauderdale
Tower campus.
Dr. James H. Svara, a John Degrove guest professor for FAU’s
school of public administration and a renowned government ethics
professor for the school of public affairs and center for urban
innovation at Arizona State University, will offer the keynote
address “
Preventing
Unethical Behavior and Promoting Ethical Behavior,”
followed
by a panel discussion titled, “Public Corruption and the Need
for Reform.”
The panel also will include Nancy Blosser, chair of FAU’s
Board of Trustees; Bruce Rogow, professor of law at Nova
Southeastern University; Michael Mayo, a
South Florida
Sun-Sentinel columnist; Norman Ostrau, director of the Public
Ethics Academy at FAU; and Florida State Representative Marco
Rubio.
The Public Ethics Academy at FAU offers research on ethic laws, as
well as training and education on policies in local government.
The Academy also will
support regular forums for dissemination of information through
seminars, panels and networking.
