United States Army Field Band and Chorus in Free Concert at FAU
BOCA RATON, FL (February 18, 2008) – The department of music in the School of the Arts in Florida Atlantic University’s Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters and the City of Boca Raton are bringing the United States Army Field Band and Chorus to Boca Raton for a free concert on Tuesday, March 11 at 7 p.m. The concert will take place in the Carole and Barry Kaye Performing Arts Auditorium at the Student Union on FAU’s Boca Raton campus, 777 Glades Road.
Since its formation in 1946, the United States Army Field Band has traveled to all 50 states and to more than 30 countries presenting a variety of music to audiences of all ages. It is considered by music critics to be one of the most versatile and inspiring musical organizations in the world.
“We are very lucky to be able to host such a prestigious organization,” said Kyle Prescott, assistant professor in the department of music and director of University Bands. “It’s a great opportunity for our students and for the public.”
Tickets (limit of four) can be picked up at the Boca Raton Community Center, 150 Crawford Boulevard in Boca Raton, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., or they may be obtained by sending a self-addressed, stamped envelope with a request for tickets to University Bands/Department of Music, 777 Glades Road, AL 164, Boca Raton, Florida 33431. Letters must be received by February 29 to ensure timely delivery. Groups of 10 or more may request tickets by calling 561-297-3854. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. Ticket holders must be seated by 6:45 p.m. If additional seats are still available at that time, non-ticket holders will be admitted.
