Supporters of FAU’s Louis and Anne Green Memory and Wellness Center Enjoy Evening with Humorist Mark Russell
BOCA RATON, FL (February 05, 2007) – The Caring Hearts Auxiliary, the fund raising arm of Florida Atlantic University’s Louis and Anne Green Memory and Wellness Center, recently sponsored “Laughter is the Best Medicine,” an event that brought a group of 150 supporters to see topical humorist Mark Russell in concert at the Carole and Barry Kaye Performing Arts Auditorium on FAU’s Boca Raton campus. The piano-playing satirist left the audience in stitches with his political quips, hilarious one-liners and tour-de-force songs.
Russell performed to a packed house as part of the 2006-2007 Headliners and Comedy Legends series at FAU. Due to the generous support of Joseph Ferrer, president and producer for Sunset Entertainment Group, Inc., proceeds from the sale of the 150 tickets will directly benefit the Memory and Wellness Center.
After the performance, the guests enjoyed cocktails with desserts and wine provided by La Rivage and cheesecakes by The Cheesecake Factory . Russell mingled with the crowd and was presented with a plaque of appreciation by Pat Thomas, past president of the Caring Hearts Auxiliary. Table sponsors for the event were Dr. and Mrs. David Hevert, Pat Thomas, Rose Strocchio, and Kevin and Lisajane Romer.
“Russell dazzled us all with his insider’s view of the Washington, D.C. scene,” said Thomas. “We are deeply grateful to Mr. Ferrer for making this wonderful evening possible and for his kind efforts on behalf of the Memory and Wellness Center.”
