FAU Invites the Public to Rediscover Storytelling with 'The American Voices Series'

BOCA RATON (January 21, 2008) – Florida Atlantic University invites the public to rediscover storytelling with “The American Voices Series.” This series of performances, which will take place at the Caldwell Theatre in Boca Raton, includes three dynamic, highly acclaimed storytelling veterans.   The series opens on Monday, February 2 with two shows at 2 and 7 p.m. by Donna Washington. Since her stage debut at age six, Washington has gained a well-deserved reputation as a dynamic storyteller, actress and author. Her unique style and dazzling energy shine through in both her personal and traditional tales, making her one of the nation’s hottest spoken work performers in festivals, theatres and beyond.

The other shows in the series include Roslyn Bresnick-Perry on Monday, March 9 and Donald Davis on Monday, April 20. “The American Voices Series” is co-sponsored by the School of the Arts and School of Communication & Multimedia Studies in FAU’s Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters. Tickets are $20 and $25, with group rates available.   For more information about the shows, call 561-241-7432 or 877-245-7432.   For further information about storytelling, contact Caren Neile at or 561-297-0042.
