FAU Hosts 2009 Presidential Inauguration Watch Parties
FAU’s Boca and Davie campuses provide venues for viewing of historic inauguration
BOCA RATON , FL (January 15, 2009) – Florida Atlantic University will host three watch parties celebrating the historic 2009 Presidential Inauguration. Two watch parties, sponsored by FAU’s Business Services, will take place on Tuesday, January 20 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.in FAU’s Center Marketplace and Coyote Jack’s Grill in FAU’s Student Union, 777 Glades Road, Boca Raton campus.
The Center Marketplace watch party will feature the opportunity to watch president-elect Barack Obama’s inauguration on several flat-screen televisions, while attendees feast on food from regions of the United States, as well as desserts such as American apple pie. The “all-you-can-eat” event costs $6.95 with an Owl Card for faculty, staff and students or $8.95 for other guests.
The Coyote Jack’s watch party will offer free giveaways such as 100 “Rock the Vote” T-shirts and Uncle Sam hats. Food and apple pie also will be available for purchase. Two life-size cutouts of Barack Obama will be raffled off by FAU’s Business Services, and on-campus organizations such as the FAU College Democrats, FAU’s department of multicultural affairs and FAU’s department of government relations will sponsor display tables. Books applicable to this historic inauguration also will be available for purchase from Barnes & Noble.
A Presidential Inauguration watch party also will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Student Union Lounge, 2912 College Ave., FAU’s Davie campus. This event is sponsored by FAU Student Government with support from Owl Productions. There will be free food and giveaways, such as FAU fleece sweatshirts, visors and key chains.
