FAU Hosts High School Engineering Competition "Robot Wars"

BOCA RATON , FL (January 24, 2007) – Florida Atlantic University’s American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) club is hosting a high school “Robot Wars” competition.   The competition will be held on Thursday, January 25, from 9:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. in the University Center Grand Palm room, FAU’s Boca Raton campus.

This annual event exposes high school students to the field of engineering and encourages them to start thinking about engineering as a career choice.  Eight teams from four local high schools: Jupiter High School, FAU High School, Dillard High School and Spanish River High School will be competing in the robot wars. Each team builds a robot to battle other robots in an arena.   The last robot standing is the winner. There will be a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place award and a best design category.

For more information about the competition, contact Tamsyn Carey at 561-297-2952.
