Brig. Gen. William Meyer:
Civil War and Editor

Brigadier General William Meyer was a Civil War veteran. He received a personal autographed letter from from Presudent Abraham Lincoln which thanked him for his valuable service during the draft riots in New York City.
When the Civil War ended, Meyer returned to journalism and was the editor of several German newspapers.
