The purpose of the Learning Resource Center is:• to provide supportive academic services for students
• to reduce classroom failure rates
• to develop basic skills
• to improve FAU student retention
• refresher sessions for students who are academically strong but have forgotten basic curriculum
• to develop a positive attitude toward learning
• to develop effective study habits
• to develop self-confidence
• to increase the student's understanding of the subject matter
The Learning Resource Center provides four basic programs:
1. Writing Tutorial Service - provides peer review services for all undergraduate writing at FAU’s MacArthur Campus.
2. Individual Course Tutorials - provides peer tutoring either individually or in small groups for a variety of courses taught on FAU’s MacArthur Campus.
3. Academic Success Workshops - provides a variety of free workshops led by LRC consultants. The workshops cover a variety of topics useful to improving academic performance. No appointments are necessary.
4. Academic Success Resources - provides a number of handouts for students and faculty covering a range of topics on writing, grammar, study skills, time management and more.
The LRC at FAU’s MacArthur Campus is located in the Student Resources (SR) Building, Room 111. The hours of the center vary each semester and are posted on the bulletin board outside the center.
