Diversity Student Services is comprised of the following areas: Office for Students with Disabilities, International Student and Scholar Services and Multicultural Affairs.
STUDENTS WITH DISABILITIES The Office for Students with Disabilities (OSD) on the MacArthur Campus supports students with disabilities in their pursuit of equity and excellence in education. OSD works with faculty and staff to ensure that reasonable accommodations are made to allow these students an equal opportunity in the classroom and access to all areas around campus.
Numerous adaptive technology aids and human support services are available to help meet the needs of students with varying disabilities:
• computers with screen readers, speech recognition systems, and scanning equipment
• audio recorders
• wheelchair-accessible desks
Support services include assistive technology training, note-taking services, sign language interpreting, adaptive testing accommodations and learning strategy tutoring.
Self-identification and registration with OSD is at the student's option and is not mandatory. However, the student must do so in order to receive authorized academic accommodations. Official documentation of the disability from a qualified professional is necessary in order to complete the process. This enables the OSD to provide the appropriate, reasonable accommodations necessary to ensure access to the student's educational program. All disability-related records are kept confidential and are not released without the student's written permission.
For information, registration materials and services, contact Dr. Jacqueline Kern in the Student Resources (SR) Building, Room 117. Call 561.799.8585, dial TTY 561.799.8565, or click on the Office of Student Disabilities.
