On behalf of the Office of International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS), it is a pleasure to welcome you to Florida Atlantic University (FAU). We host approximately 900 international students, scholars and their families representing about 100 countries. Our goal is to ensure that you have a positive and productive experience while at FAU, and – along with reaching your academic objectives – that you enjoy our diverse university community and campus life. We are here to assist you with a wide range of important and practical information and to help make your transition into our university community as smooth as possible. Mihaela has worked in the field of international education since 1996, with a focus on issues and regulations affecting international students and scholars. In addition to providing overall leadership for the ISSS Office, she is the primary liaison to FAU departments and outside agencies on matters related to international students and scholars. She also manages the J Exchange Visitor Program and advises international students on more complex immigration issues. Mihaela is originally from Romania.

Edyta is from Poland, and her background in psychology and fact that she grew up in another country provided an opportunity to better understand international students and scholars and their transition to a different culture and educational system; therefore, in most of her previous roles as a HR specialist in a private sector, and in any of her previous positions in higher education, she was working with people from other countries. She came to work with FAU in 2005 initially as an Assistant Director for International Admissions, and, since fall 2012 she is with ISSS where her main focus is to advise students and scholars on complex immigration matters, guide them in transitioning into the new culture, and also to ensure compliance with federal regulations, as well as manage and maintain the ISSS international student module. She loves working with international students, she has two kids and enjoys hiking in the mountains.

Lisa has a Master degree in Higher Education Administration from Lynn University and Bachelor degree in Spanish from Temple University. She has over 14 years experience in international education and enjoys working with international student s. As an international student advisor, she will act as a liaison between the student and government agencies and the FAU community.   She will also be conducting workshops and programs throughout the academic year. Lisa is originally from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and has lived in São Paulo, Brazil. Lisa loves traveling, hiking, and going to the beach.

Myrtha has been employed with FAU since 2001. In addition to her regular assignments, she is the Alternate Responsible Officer for the J-1 program and the Designated School Officer for the F1s. Prior to coming to FAU, she worked in various fields including the health care industry.

After graduating from FAU with her Bachelors in Arts and Humanities, Sabrina obtained her Certificate in Teaching English as a Foreign Language. Her passion for travel led her to pursue different study abroad opportunities which sparked her interest in pursuing a career in a higher education setting. She began employment at FAU in 2011 as the Graduate Assistant in Student Involvement and Leadership and graduated with her Masters in Higher Education Leadership in 2013. She loves working with international students on the Jupiter and Boca Campuses.
