Wireless @ FAU
Secure Wireless Connectivity for Linux
NOTE: IRM does not support the Linux operating system.
Assumptions:
- Running a Linux distribution with Network Manager installed (examples include: Fedora 7, Ubuntu 7.04, OpenSuSE 10.4)
- Wireless card installed and working
Move your mouse cursor to the top right of the screen and select (click) the highlighted icon from the system tray
In the menu that pops up, select "Connect to other wireless networks..."
In the window which appears, fill out the following information:
- In the textbox labeled "Network Name", fill in fausecure
- In the drop down box labeled "Wireless Security", select WPA Enterprise
In the additional fields which appear, fill out the following information:
- In the drop down box labeled "EAP Method", select PEAP
- In the drop down box labeled "Key Type", select Dynamic WEP
- In the textbox labeled "Identity", fill in your FAU username (same as the first part of your e-mail)
- In the textbox labeled "Password", fill in your FAU password (same as the password to log into a lab computer
Click the button labeled Connect
If it worked, you should receive a popup notification in the top right corner of the screen saying you are successfully connected to fausecure.
