Once the software has been installed on your machine, you should see following options on your desktop or under the "SSH Secure Shell" folder in the All Programs menu under the Start menu:
- "Secure Source File Transfer Client" aka SFTP
Used to transfer files to the WISE web server. You can upload and download files by using an intuitive, graphical user interface similar in functionality to Windows Explorer.
- "Secure Shell Client" aka SSH
Used to edit files on the WISE system directly. It is the secure replacement for Telnet connections. It offers a command line interface to the remote host computer. You would also use SSH to change your password on the WISE.
- To start up a connection open go to File -> Quick Connect
- Connect to the remote host by enter the following:
Host Name wise.fau.edu
User Name: your WISE user name
Port Number: 22
Authentication Method: <Profile Settings>
- Click the Connect button.
- The "Host Identification" window will pop-up if this is the the first time you are attempting to connect. Click the Yes button to save.
Click OK on the "Message from the server" window that *may* pop-up.
- Enter your password in the "Enter Password" window.
- By default, you will be brought to your HOME directory usually located at: /export/home/username
