Videoconferencing

This purpose of site is to increase faculty awareness and understanding of the videoconferencing tools available at Florida Atlantic University.   We hope to provide you with a basic understanding of the technology and pedagogy related to academic videoconferencing.

What is it?

Academic videoconferencing (VC) makes it possible for instructors and students to be on different campuses but for the class to be conducted in "real-time" through two-way audio and two-way video.

FAU provides both interactive classrooms and conference rooms to the academic community on all FAU campuses. Many of these rooms are available to all colleges on a first-come first-served basis for live transmission of accredited courses to partner campuses. Interactive courses must be booked through the Registar's office prior to the scheduling of the academic term.

The interactive videoconference classrooms and conference rooms located throughout all of the FAU campuses can also be reserved for individual meetings and special requests. If you are interested in reserving one or more of these rooms for videoconference purposes, please go to the FAU Helpdesk to submit a request. All requests should be submitted at least a week in advance and are subject to room availability.  Please note that external videoconferencing with other institutions may incur charges as well as additional setup and testing time.
