A University-wide shutdown of IRM services and systems (e-mail, Blackboard, Internet, networking, etc.) will begin at 12:01 a.m. on Saturday, March 8. It is anticipated that all services will be restored around 6 p.m. on Sunday, March 9. All FAU campuses, residence halls and facilities will be affected.During the shutdown, there will be NO access to:
- the Internet, wireless networks, FAU-based e-mail or shared drives.
- Blackboard, MyFAU (including access to Self-Service OWLS and OASIS) and Banner. These services will be unavailable even if you have access from your own Internet provider.
- Video conferencing services.
- VPN services.
Additionally:
- The FAU home page and the majority of the website will be unavailable.
- Computer labs will be closed.
- E-mail messages sent to "@fau.edu" e-mail accounts will be queued for delivery on late Sunday evening through Monday morning.
- If you use an outside service provider to access the Internet, you will not be able to send/receive FAU e-mail.
- There will be no access to FAU's Help Desk Support Center.
- The phone system will continue to function normally with the exception that calls between campuses will need to be dialed using the full, 10-digit numbers.
For the duration of this downtime, the standard FAU homepage http://www.fau.edu will be offline. A temporary message page will provide information about the shutdown and the status of services.A note about BlackBerry users: BlackBerry services will remain up and running. Blackberry users will continue to receive e-mails from outside FAU and from other FAU BlackBerry/Exchange users on their devices. They can also send/receive messages via http://bberry.fau.edu if accessed through an outside Internet provider.
We are sorry for the inconvenience this may cause, but the shutdown is essential to increase electrical capabilities, upgrade equipment and strengthen the University's computing services. Once again, the University anticipates all services to be re-established around 6 p.m. on Sunday, March 9.
