About FAU	Florida Atlantic University, the fifth public university in Florida, opened its doors in 1964 with an enrollment of 867 upper-division and graduate students. In 1984, FAU admitted its charter freshman class of 257, becoming a four-year institution. In fall 2010, FAU achieved its largest enrollment. The 28,394 students currently enrolled come from 49 states and 140 countries; 56% are full-time and over 2,700 are first-time-in-college students.	Financial Aid

Mission Statement
Florida Atlantic University is a public research university with multiple campuses along the southeast Florida coast serving a uniquely diverse community. It promotes academic and personal development, discovery, and lifelong learning. FAU fulfills its mission through excellence and innovation in teaching, outstanding research and creative activities, public engagement and distinctive scientific and cultural alliances, all within an environment that fosters inclusiveness.

More than $154 million was awarded in 2009-10 to students through scholarships, grants, loans and work study.

Lifelong Learning
The Lifelong Learning Society is celebrating its thirtieth year on the Boca Raton campus where we've been offering intellectually enriching educational experiences to adults and lifelong learners of all ages. We offer non-credit courses and one-time lectures, events and performances in a welcoming atmosphere in our state of the art facility - the Barry and Florence Friedberg Auditorium. Thus far, in 2010, we've had over 22,000 registrations for our various programs. More than 7,500 students register annually for Lifelong Learning classes on the Jupiter Campus. The program began on the Northern campuses in 1997 with 125 registrations. Thirteen years later LLS offers over 80 classes and is housed in their own $6,000,000 complex.
