Recruitment

The Florida Atlantic University Employment office offers assistance to all departments with the Recruitment and Selection of applicants.  Below are detailed procedures designed to help hiring managers through the recruitment process from posting the position to forwarding the appropriate new hire paperwork.

Temporary Recruitment

Temporary positions fall into one of the following categories:

  1. Executive and Administrative Exempt
  2. Professional Exempt
  3. Office/Administrative/Clerical
  4. Technical/Artistic/Paraprofessional
  5. Trades/Skilled Crafts
  6. Service/Maintenance

Temporary positions are not established positions, provide no benefits, and are paid from OPS funds. The length of each position depends on available funding. They provide part-time or full-time employment. Temporary positions may be exempt or non-exempt based on job duties and salary in accordance with the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).  Temporary positions do not have layoff rights and may be terminated without prior notice. Applicants hired into Temporary positions may apply for a regular appointment should a vacancy become available. Please refer to the Temporary Employment Procedures & Salary Guidelines before beginning the hiring/recruitment process.

Internal Promotion Process

Internal Promotions & Recruitment Policy
Departments may elect to designate postings as “FAU Departmental Promotional Opportunity” allowing only current department employees to apply, or “University Internal Promotional Opportunity”, allowing only current FAU employees to apply.  In all cases, employees must meet the minimum qualifications for the position, have satisfactory performance, have successfully passed a probationary period if applicable, and be employed a minimum of six months with the University.  For complete details please refer to the Florida Atlantic University Promotion and Recruitment Policy
