RESIDENT ASSISTANTS
A Resident Assistant (RA) is specifically selected and trained to work with students establishing a residential community. The RA is here to help residents with the transition and on-going challenges students face when attending college. The RA can assist with maintenance problems, roommate conflicts and other issues of concern. The RA is a great resource person who can help answer questions about the University and surrounding community. Throughout the course of the year, the RA will plan various programs and activities with and for the residents. An RA is on duty during evenings, weekends and holidays.

DESK ASSISTANTS
Desk Assistants (DA) are student employees who staff the Area Offices during and outside of business hours. The DA can assist with providing general information, contacting a Resident Assistant, or assisting you with submitting work orders for maintenance and custodial issues.

ASSISTANT TO THE ASSISTANT DIRECTORS
The Assistant to the Assistant Directors (AADs) are full-time professional staff members who oversee the operation of the area office. This staff member can issue a TAG key, provide housing information, and assist you with facility concerns. AADs assist the Resident/Area Coordinator with the overall administration of the facility.

ASSISTANT RESIDENT COORDINATORS (ARC)/HALL DIRECTORS (HD)
Most areas are staffed with a graduate level live-in Assistant Resident Coordinator/Hall Director (ARC/HD). ARCs/HDs have completed baccalaureate degrees and are currently working towards Master’s Degrees in Higher Education, Counseling or a related field here at FAU. While duties vary between buildings, the ARCs/HDs assist with the supervision of the RAs, assist with day to day operations of the area, assist students in the development of programs, handle disciplinary matters, and participate in the duty schedule of staff coverage. The ARC/HD may also advise the area community council. The Hall Director is responsible for each of the responsibilities listed above as well as directly oversee the operation of the community.

RESIDENT COORDINATORS/AREA COORDINATORS
Each area is staffed with a full-time live in Resident Coordinator or Area Coordinator (RC/AC). Resident Coordinators have completed master’s degrees and have previous experience working in University Housing. The AC/RC supervises the RAs, mentor and develop Graduate Assistants, assists with day to day operations of the area, assists students in the development of programs, handles disciplinary matters, and participates in the duty schedule of staff coverage. The Area/Resident Coordinator also advises the area community council and/or supervises the area office student assistants.

HOUSING FACILITIES STAFF
The Housing Facilities Staff provides maintenance and custodial services for University Housing and public areas. Maintenance staff is available on campus 8am to 4:30pm Monday through Friday and on-call for emergencies. Custodial staff is available on campus, 8am to 4:30pm Monday through Friday and 8:00am to noon on Saturday and Sunday. These times vary during holidays and break periods. For emergencies after hours, contact your RA or Area office.

FACULTY IN RESIDENCE
The Faculty in Residence (FIR) is faculty member at FAU, with all duties and responsibilities of all other FAU faculty. In addition, the FIR shares the residence hall living experience with students in Parliament Hall, as a full-time resident of Parliament Hall. This allows for opportunities to interact and form relationships with students in a manner that is not always feasible in an academic setting. The FIR may also share a meal with students attend a sporting event, or invite students to share time with other faculty members in one of the beautiful spaces within Parliament Hall.

ASSISTANT DIRECTORS OF HOUSING FOR RESIDENTIAL LIFE (West & East Campus)
The Assistant Directors are responsible for overseeing the daily operation of the Residence Halls and Student Apartments. This includes supervision of the Area Offices, Assistant to the Assistant Directors, and Area/Resident Coordinators. In addition, the Assistant Directors oversee the student disciplinary process within University Housing, provide oversight for student and professional staff training and selection, and participate in university wide committees.

COORDINATOR FOR RESIDENTIAL EDUCATION
The Coordinator for Residential Education’s primary responsibility is to work collaboratively with our academic partners to seamlessly provide educational opportunities through Living Learning Communities (LLCs) and also oversees leadership opportunities within the department. This position also advises the Resident Student Association on campus.

ASSISTANT DIRECTOR FOR SAFETY EDUCATION
The Assistant Director for Safety Education oversees the Desk Assistant (DA) program including oversight, training and supervision of all the desk operations across campus. This staff member works in partnership with Florida Atlantic University’s on campus Police Department to further safety initiatives on campus.

DIRECTOR OF RESIDENTIAL LIFE
Oversees all residential life aspects of the department and coordinates the vision and direction for the residence life program. Specific responsibility includes overall supervision of residential life professional and student staff, development and implementation of Residential Life strategic plan, works directly with the Faculty-in-Residence to plan and implement academic and social events, collaborates with the CLASS office on Living Learning Communities, works with Undergraduate Advising Services on Residential initiatives (includes Get Wise program) and works directly with Campus life team to ensure collaborative programming and events for FAU students.
