The Harriet L. Wilkes Honors College is pleased to announce the appointment of professor Ashley Kennedy, Ph.D. to the position of Assistant Director of the Leon Charney Diplomacy Program. Dr. Kennedy, Associate Professor of Philosophy, will be in charge of Diplomacy Program operations on FAU’s Jupiter campus.
Established in 1996, the Diplomacy Program is named in honor of Leon Charney out of respect for his diplomatic legacy. Leon played a pivotal role as a back door channel during the 1978 Camp David Accord negotiations.
The Diplomacy Program is the recipient of thirty-seven national and international awards for academic excellence. In 2018, it won the university’s first national title in Washington, D.C. The Program’s students compete in the fall (Washington, D.C.) and spring semesters (New York City).
Dr. Kennedy joins Annette LaRocco and Jeffrey Morton in directing the university-wide Program for undergraduate students of all majors.
