Johanna Kowalko, Ph.D. the assistant professor of biology of the Wilkes Honors College and member of the Jupiter Life Science Initiative, recently received a Mentoring Award from FAU’s Division of Research for 2019. Kowalko will be mentored by Alex Keene, Ph.D. an associate professor in the College of Science and member of the Jupiter Life Science Initiative. Kowalko and Keene previously worked as co-principal investigators on a recently funded National Science Foundation grant that allows them to study the role of albinism in the evolution of behavior. Kowalko and Keene will continue to collaborate to further understand the genetic basis of behavior, and are excited to establish a formal mentoring relationship.
