Dr. O’Brien’s work on the intersection of environment and race has appeared in journals including Historical Geography, Geographical Review, Human Ecology, Journal of Geography, Journal of American Culture, and Ethics, Place and Environment. He is author of the book, Landscapes of Exclusion: State Parks and Jim Crow in the American South, published jointly by the Library of American Landscape History and the University of Massachusetts Press (forthcoming in 2015).
