Joint MBA & MHA

What is the difference between the MBA and MHA Programs?

There are similarities among these degrees and all can be found among the top health care management programs in the field. It is a good idea to consider the type of organization where you would like to work and investigate whether such organizations prefer one of the above degrees.

The MBA program tends to provide a general management core followed by courses specializing in health care. The MBA prepares more generally in business and thus has fewer health care specific courses than the MHA. The MHA program tends to provide health care content throughout the program.

Joint degrees are often possible, but require additional time. The MHA is ideal for people with a health care background who want to specialize in health care administration at a masters level.
