Career
For 21 years, Mr. Tatro led technical programs and organizations as a U.S. Navy civil servant. He directed all business and technical facets of the Navy’s ship and submarine acoustic engineering, and assessment organization, and managed Navy technology efforts for the Chief of Naval Operation’s Submarine Security Program. His technical efforts have included ocean acoustics, acoustic and electro-magnetic signature measurements and technologies, ship systems engineering, and ocean engineering. His experience also includes management of test and evaluation infrastructure and marine operations. Mr. Tatro joined Harbor Branch in June of 2006 and leads the Center for Engineering and Technology in providing technical solutions and marine operational capabilities in support of science and ocean engineering research.
Research Interests
Mr. Tatro brings a strong desire to develop technical and operational capabilities to enable ocean exploration and marine research efforts. He came to Harbor Branch with the objective of translating his experience in a broad range of engineering research, field work, and operational management into new and innovative opportunities for the Institute's scientific mission.
