Students are encouraged to participate in co-curricular activities and events designed to create and foster community spirit on the Broward campuses. These activities include social gatherings, recreation events, multicultural education, lectures on current issues, musical performances, volunteer opportunities, movies and other performing arts. Owl Productions and Broward Volunteer Center is responsible for most of these programming and volunteer functions on campus.

The Student Development and Activity Center (SAC) in the Liberal Arts Building on the Davie Campus is the site of many of these activities and offers an informal gathering place for student groups to meet and interact. The SAC is open Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 2 a.m., on Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 11 p.m and Saturday and Sunday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Free coffee is offered to all students, staff and guests compliments of Broward Student Government.
Students interested in getting involved in Broward Student Government or a club or community service opportunities can obtain more information from the Office of Student Development and Activities, Liberal Arts Building, room 108. The office is open Monday through Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. For specific information, please call at (954) 236-1254.
The Fort Lauderdale Campus is a unique, urban campus. It is surrounded by the Huizenga Plaza, the New River and the Museum of Art. Within walking distance is the Discovery Science Museum, the Broward Center for the Performing Arts and all the shops and restaurants of Las Olas Blvd. FAU students have the city's natural and cultural resources at their disposal. FAU students enjoy educational and social recreation and activities in the Student Activities Center, located in the Higher Education Complex, room 607. This student area is open 24/7. Among the many amenities are wireless network capability, computer stations, TV lounge and limited kitchen facilities. FAU students are free to use the private study carrels all night. Named after the former Florida Governor, the Reubin O’D. Askew Tower is across the street. It is the site of STUDIO 728 and sitting adjacently is another student lounge area. It hosts many meaningful educational events during the year, showcasing the work of students and faculty.
The Fort Lauderdale Office of Student Affairs and Broward Student Government Agencies and Clubs are located in the Higher Education Complex, room 507.
